My brother is a certified jock. Work for him should be done with muscles and real jobs belong to sweaty people. As soon as he finished high school he joined a construction firm and worked as mason. He excelled in his job and he was content with his life. There were times in the past when I would ask him to help me with my science projects and he would just say ask your sister, that’s her expertise. He would then go on a spiel about how he bullied his classmates into making his projects for him. He would usually end it with a big laugh.

But everything changed one day when our parents went away on a business trip and my sister was busy preparing for her exams. I was working on a waveguide transitions project and I needed help in getting rectangular wave guide components for it. Knowing how averse my brother was about geeky stuff, I called my dad who asked to speak to my brother. He (my brother) was about to protest when my father’s voice became loud enough that we wouldn’t have needed a speaker phone. To make the story short, he helped me get what I needed in the internet and joined me in my project. What amazed me was halfway through the work he asked me where I learned such “cool stuff”. I just smiled.
